It has become obvious that people are cheating outrageously on the poll, and as a result, MAB has decided to remove it from our webpage. Though we have always known that such a format was open to people being dishonest and casting multiple votes, we felt it was important to leave the poll open and changeable, since University community members are always suggesting new acts and the price and availability of artists are perpetually in flux. However, what was once a few people skewing the results slightly has become unmanageable, and has made the poll inefficient at gauging student interest. We have never had such an issue before.
MAB will consider alternatives to this poll format; however, because it is necessary to have a poll to which artists can be added and removed, and that people are able to vote multiple times on IF the act they voted for previously has been removed, we are now presented with a fairly complicated situation. Because of this, we will not have a Summer Breeze poll for this year. Though we will try our best to figure out which results were accurate and which were not, at this point it's not possible to tell when votes were cast or which ones are legitimate.
To those who voted in hopes of bringing an artist you particularly like, we apologize.

Regarding the venue:
MAB has received some questions about our choosing Mandel for a venue. We have considered other possibilities, such as Hutch. However, fire code only allows 320 people in Hutch, and most of the other places on campus have similar or even less capacity. There will be room for about 250 people at the front of Mandel Hall-- we don't remove seats, but a portion of the stage can be sunk into the ground. The first 250 people will be allowed down into this area.
While we know Mandel is not the ideal location, it is the best solution on campus.
We appreciate the student body's bringing their concerns to us directly, and try to respond to your wishes as best we can. Please feel free to contact us at the MAB email, uchicagomab@gmail.com, if you have any further questions.Girl Talk is one of the nations premier mash-up artists, and known for a crazy, fun, and generally awesome live show. His funky combinations of top forty hits and high energy performance make this is one event you don't want to miss out on!
"Gregg Gillis, a.k.a. Girl Talk, puts on a serious show that will leave you both puzzled and elated. He is one of electronic music's hottest contributors and gives new meaning to 'laptop musician.'" - Stubhub.com

MAB's fall show is coming up on November 21st! Mark your calendars and check back, either on the website or Facebook, for further details on who'll be performing. We will be announcing soon!
43% voted YES (130 votes) and 57% voted NO (171 votes) to a large winter show/smaller Summer Breeze. We are going with the majority consensus and NOT pursuing the opportunity for a big-name comedian in the winter. Thanks to all who voted! Get hyped for an awesome Summer Breeze.
We've now put up an ongoing poll for you to pick the band/artist you'd like to see...so cast your vote now!
MAB might have the opportunity to bring a big-name comedian to campus, but if we pursue this, we will have to have a smaller Summer Breeze. Please cast your opinion on this at the poll to your right. The poll will close midnight on Saturday, so tell your friends to vote now!
Meanwhile, we will soon be announcing our Fall Show, so keep an eye on this page.

For updates on upcoming events, check us out on FACEBOOK.
We have taken down the poll - please click here for details.
However, we are still looking for your input for future shows. Please email Liat lbird@uchicago.edu with your suggestion. If the artist is available on our dates and within our budget, we will definitely take it into consideration. Thanks!
