Using Hip-Hop influenced by Soul, Jazz and Latin rhythms, Black Eyed Peas are a fresh mix of positive, infectious multi-cultural beats, that are prepared in an alternative, accessibel visual fashion that are found on their debut set, Just..'Behind The Front'. Black Eyed Peas' hip hop is influenced by soul, jazz and Latin rhythms and together with the positivity of their lyric, the group have set themselves apart from their peers. "We make songs that can be understood by the normal listener, unlike regular hip hop where you have to be in the scene to understand what they're talking about." Three MC's, a four piece band plus one stunnin' background singer combine to make the delicious sounds of Black Eyed Peas. Black Eyed Peas is a Los Angeles-based alternative hip-hop crew (ala A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and the Roots) comprising MCs Will-I-Am, Apl-de-AP and Taboo. Blending soul, funk, hip-hop, Latin and even Asian- and Native- American elements, the Black Eyed Peas burst into public consciousness in mid- 1998 with their Interscope debut album Behind the Front, which they supported by appearing on the Smoking Grooves tour. Its standout single "Joints and Jams" also appeared on the Bulworth soundtrack. Behind the Front received three out of five mics from The Source and three out of five stars from Rolling Stone, indicating a bright future for the group.
